The t that writes the slate.

Tabula is Latin for a writing tablet. Our mark draws one with a single letter: the stem and crossbar of a lowercase t become the edges of the tablet, and inside it sits one line of writing. A few words, and something gets done.

Three readings, one shape

01

A letter

The stem rises above the crossbar and the crossbar reaches left, exactly like the t in our wordmark. It is the first letter of the name.

02

A tablet

The same strokes keep going and close into a frame: the wax tablet, the slate, the oldest personal writing surface.

03

A message

Inside, one short line, set to the left like text. Not a chat bubble and not a phone: just the words, which is all our services ever need.

Construction

Built from one stroke on a 48-unit grid.

One continuous path, 7 units wide, with three equal 8.5-unit corners. The top-left corner stays square because it is where the t crosses itself. The crossbar sits on the wordmark’s x-height and the frame closes on its baseline, so the mark and the name share one set of lines.

The name is set in Funnel Display. “tabula” carries the weight; “sms” steps back in a quieter tone.

Use it well

Clear space on every side equals two stroke widths.

Don’t rotate, skew or redraw it.

Don’t use accent colors. Ink, paper, white or signal blue only.

Don’t stretch it to fit a space.
