AnnounceMe is winding down and is no longer accepting new groups or members. Existing groups can keep sending while we wind the service down, and will hear from us directly about next steps.
What it did
One-way by design
Members receive announcements, and there are no threads or reply-all storms. The message stays the message.
Everyone, on any phone
Announcements arrive as ordinary texts, so they reach flip phones, filtered phones and smartphones alike, with no app to install.
Leaving is one word
Any member can reply STOP to leave a group at once. Opt-outs are honored automatically, and admins never have to chase them.

How it worked
Create a group
Admins set up a group and chose who could send.
Add members
Members who had agreed to receive announcements were added.
Send one text
Each announcement went to every member at once, as a plain text.
